In firearms terminology, the receiver is the part of a firearm that houses the operating parts. It is sometimes called the body of the firearm, and especially in the context of handguns it is often called the frame. It is usually made of steel or aluminum. The reciever pictured above is the net impact shaped produced by Gayston. This part is made of aluminum and is used in a 12-gauge shotgun. This net impact undergoes many milling and fit-up operations to become the part of the shotgun that is pictured below. Utilizing impact extrusion in manufacturing this part allows Gayston to both produce a strong and consistent part and minimize material waste.
