Founded in 1951 as a design engineering firm; during its initial ten years of operation Gayston began to develop manufacturing capabilities and by the mid sixties had become a proven supplier of military weapon components to the United States Government. Military Products continued to account for the bulk of Gayston's product line throughout the seventies and eighties. During this time Gayston added precision machining and metals fabrication equipment to increase its manufacturing versatility. This included developing technologies and processes to impact extrude aluminum, a process which has also proven to be of great value to the company in its manufacture of automotive air bag components during the nineties, and for the current manufacture of all of its precision metal products. In 1987, the company relocated from a multi-plant operation in Dayton, Ohio to a single larger facility on 40 acres in Springboro, Ohio.

Gayston is a privately owned company currently employing 200-250 hourly and management employees. The company continues to manufacture military products for both domestic and foreign sale while also growing its recreational and stored gas divisions with both nationally branded and private label customers. In doing so, Gayston is perfecting new technologies which are being applied across all divisions; leading to a product mix that is both diverse and technologically advanced. Gayston is a registered ISO 9000:2001 company which focuses to assure continuous improvement through lean manufacturing concepts, management focus, and new technologies.
